The Art of
Shetland Lace
by Sarah Don
|
Originally published in 1974, this classic book, now in hardcover, is back in print.
First published in 1980, The Art of Shetland Lace remains the classic
reference book on the history and techniques of the most gossamer form of
knitting. With instructions for making sample squares of over 30 lace
stitch patterns, each defined by name, line instructions, and photograph,
a vocabulary is established for making a traditional or non-traditional
lace shawl or garment as the basic construction techniques are explained.
Full instructions are given for seven projects, with notes on dressing,
blocking, and washing, as well as adapting patterns to different yarn weights.
