Join and work 8 rounds in knit 2 purl 2 rib pattern. Switch to main color yarn and knit next round. Continue working in knit 2 purl 2 rib pattern until hat measures 6 (5)" from the beginning. Decreases — Work next round as follows:   *knit 2, purl 2 together* rep from * to end of round. Work 6 rounds as follows: *knit 2, purl 1*   rep from * to end of round. Next round (switch to double-pointed needles if you are using circular needle): *knit 2 together, purl 1* rep from * to end of round. Work 6 rounds in knit 1 purl 1 rib pattern.
