Flower Pattern
(Solid Color and Variegated Color)
There were two additional decrease rows
that crept into the pattern ..
Cast on 200 stitches and knit 22 rows
(add more rows for larger flower).
Mark middle of row with a piece of different color yarn.
Next row: *knit 2 stitches together; repeat from *
to middle of row = 50 stitches on first needle.
Start with second needle and *knit 2 stitches together;
repeat from * to end of row = 50 stitches on second needle.
Now put the two needles parallel to each other (with one needle
behind the other) and work the next row as follows:
*knit stitch on needle closest to you together with stitch
on needle in back (similar to three-needle bind-off —
without binding off, of course); repeat from * to end of row

to end of row = 25 stitches.
Double yarn for the final 3 rows. Mark middle of row

repeat from * to middle of row = 7 stitches.
Start with second needle and *knit 2 stitches together;
repeat from * to end of row = 6 stitches.
Put the two needles parallel to each other again
and knit stitches together from front and back needle
(same as before), knit last stitch on needle with 7 stitches.
Next row: *knit 2 stitches together; repeat from * to last stitch,
knit last stitch = 4 stitches. Bind off in next row.

Gator Mitts
Here is a revised Thumb Gusset:
Work next round as follows: *knit 1 stitch, increase 1 stitch
(work increases as follows: pick up yarn between stitches
with left-hand needle— pick it up from the front towards back,
then knit into the backof the loop over needle); repeat from *
2 more times (you'll have 6 stitches on the right-hand needle).
Continue round as follows: *knit 5 (6/7) stitches, increase 1 stitch;
repeat from * 2 more times; knit the next 5 (6/7); then end round with
*knit 1 stitch, increase 1 stitch; repeat from * 2 more times;
knit last stitch — total of 36 (40/44) stitches.
Knit 12 (14/16) rounds. Next, knit round to last 4 stitches, and now
put the last 4 stitches and first 4 stitches (from next round) on a
stitch holder. You now have 28 (32/36) stitches on needles. Knit 20
(22/24) rounds, or the length to cover a child's fingers. Put stitches
on 2 needles — 14 (16/18) stitches on each needle.
And on Thumb: Put stitches from holding needle on two needles.
Pick up 3 (3/4) stitches between the first and the last stitch —
a total of 11 (11/12) stitches.
