A MOREHOUSE ORIGINAL PATTERN
Size:
Adult, one size
Yarn:
Worsted weight in 2 colors, about 100 yards per color;
sample is knit with Morehouse Merino 3-Strand
Needles:
Double-pointed #6 (or size to obtain correct gauge)
Gauge:

Hat is knit in the round. With color A (the darker of the two colors), cast on 88 stitches.
Join and knit first round. Switch to color B and start pattern. (Don’t break off yarn when
switching colors, just pull up new color loosely on inside of hat and cross over behind
yarn color you’ve just finished with to avoid gap.)
Pattern:
Round 1 (color B) *knit 3, slip stitch (slip all stitches throughout pattern as if to purl stitch with yarn in back); rep from * to end of round
Round 2 (color B) rep round 1
Round 3 (color A) knit 1, *slip stitch, knit 3; rep from * to end of round, ending with slip stitch, knit 2
Round 4 (color A) purl 1, *knit 1, purl 3; rep from * to end of round, ending with knit 1, purl 2
Round 5 (color B) knit 1, *slip stitch, knit 3; rep from * to end of round, ending with slip stitch, knit 2
Round 6 (color B) rep round 5
Round 7 (color A) *knit 3, slip stitch; rep from * to end of round
Round 8 (color A) *purl 3, knit 1; rep from * to end of round
Repeat these 8 rounds until hat measures about 10” ending with color B.
Next: switch to color A and work round as follows: *knit 2 stitches together;
rep from * to end of round. Repeat this round two more times. Pull yarn through remaining stitches.
