Grace Kelly Scarf

A MOREHOUSE ORIGINAL PATTERN
Size:
See diagram below
(measured after washing and blocking)
Yarn:
Lace Yarn, 450 yards; sample is knit with 2
skeins of Morehouse Merino Lace
Needles: #7 or #8
Pattern: Stockinette stitch or Garter stitch
(your choice)

Cast on 3 stitches. Decide whether to knit scarf in Garter or Stockinette stitch
(tip: if you are using variegated yarn, the scarf looks better in Garter stitch).
Work first 2 rows in your choice of pattern – for Stockinette stitch, knit uneven
rows and purl even rows; for Garter stitch, knit each row. Row 3: knit to next to
last stitch, increase 1 stitch, knit last stitch. Work row 4 in pattern. Row 5
and all subsequent uneven rows: knit to next to last stitch, increase 1 stitch,
knit last stitch. All even rows are worked in your choice of pattern. Continue
this way until you have 90 stitches. Now start to decrease: knit uneven rows
to last 2 stitches, knit last 2 stitches together. Work even rows in pattern
as before. Continue decreases in uneven rows until you have 3 stitches left. Bind off.
Finishing: darn in ends, then soak scarf in warm water for a few minutes.
Squeeze out as much water as possible and lay flat to dry (corner of bed is ideal),
stretching scarf to final size.
