Morehouse Farm Merino

Check our Alternate Pattern
for a pair of leggings in sport weight

Adult, about 18 long

Variegated worsted weight, 300 yards; sample is knit with 2 skeins of variegated Morehouse Merino 3-Strand

Set of double-pointed #5 or #6 (size to obtain
correct gauge)

4½ stitches = 1 inch over stockinette stitch

Leggings are knit in the round. Cast on 44 stitches. Distribute stitches over four needles, use fifth needle to knit with (if you have a set of four needles, distribute stitches over 3 needles and use fourth needle to knit with).

You can start and end legging with rib border or you can knit the entire legging in stockinette stitch (the edges will then curl slightly).

For rib border version, work first 6 to 8 rounds in knit 1 purl 1 rib. Then continue in stockinette stitch (knit every round) until you have 108 rounds. Repeat rib border, then bind off loosely.

For stockinette stitch version, knit 110 to 115 rounds. Then bind off loosely.

Make second legging.
