Triangular NeckTie

Size:
45" at its widest, and 20" deep
(measured after washing and blocking)

Yarn:
440 yards of fingering weight yarn
(or use 2 skeins of Morehouse
Merino Lace Yarn)

Needles: #8 or #9

The Scarf is knit from side to side.
Cast on 3 stitches. Knit 2 rows,
then start pattern.


Pattern:

Uneven Rows increase in first stitch as follows:
knit first stitch, keep stitch on left-hand needle
and knit into the back of same stitch again;
knit to end of row.

Even Rows knit.
Repeat these 2 rows
until you have 70 stitches.

Now start to decrease as follows:
Uneven Rows knit.
Even Rows knit row to last 2 stitches,
knit those 2 stitches together.
Repeat these 2 rows
until you have 3 stitches left.
Bind off.

Finishing: darn in ends, then soak scarf in
warm water with mild soap. Rinse in warm water, then squeeze out as much water as possible. Lay flat to dry (corner of bed is ideal), stretching scarf to final size.

Cap with Felt Shamrock on top

Size:
One size—fits most adults

Yarn:
145 yards of worsted weight yarn
(or use 1 skein of Morehouse
Merino 3-Strand Yarn)

Needles:
Set of double-pointed #5 or #6
(size to obtain gauge)

Gauge:
4 stitches = 1 inch
over stockinette stitch


Cast on 84 stitches.
Join and knit until you have
6 yards of yarn left.

Next round: *knit 2 together;
rep from * to end of round.
Repeat this last round for 2 more rounds.
Pull yarn through remaining stitches.

Felt: Cut out 3 or 4 shamrock pieces.

  
Then crochet or braid 2” long pieces
and attach shamrocks, then attach braids
with shamrocks to hat.

Shamrock Scarf

Size:
35" long (not including stems)
and 12" wide — before washing & blocking.
Will stretch to about 40"
(not including stems),
after washing & blocking

Yarn:
440 yards of fingering weight yarn
(or use 2 skeins of Morehouse
Merino Lace Yarn)

Needle: #5

Gauge:
5½ stitches = 1 inch
over garter stitch;
entire scarf is knit (garter stitch)


Cast on 12 stitches. Knit 2 stitches together at the end of the next 4 rows = 8 stitches remaining. Knit until stem measures 6” from beginning.

Cast on 8 stitches at the end of the next 2 rows (use e-loop cast-on or open-knit cast-on method) = total of 24 stitches.

Next, * increase 1 stitch at the beginning of each row until you have 62 stitches, and knit 40 rows. Next, start decreases: knit 2 stitches together at the end of each row until you have 22 stitches left. Knit 2 rows.

Repeat from * 2 more times
(you’ll have 3 Shamrock Leaves).

Next, *bind off the first 7 stitches, then knit to end of row; repeat from * on next row = 8 stitches left. Knit until stem measures about 5˝”, then increase 1 stitch at beginning of next 4 rows. Bind off.

Finishing: darn in ends, then soak scarf in warm water with mild soap. Rinse in warm water, then squeeze out as much water as possible. Lay flat to dry, shaping and rounding the leaves.
