#25aweek

My friend Will started a company that takes delicious-but-ugly fruits and vegetables and turns them into the best Bloody Mary mix you’ll ever have.  When he does this, he provides a good market for local farmers, creates jobs in his local Richmond, VA, and makes some really good juice.  Whether you mix it, drink it straight up, or cook with it, I think you’ll agree it’s brilliant.

But what’s even more brilliant is this idea Will had to support local businesses during this disruption.  We’re really proud to partner with Will and his company, Back Pocket Provisions, on #25aWeek and hope you’ll play along.

We both agree that people are the best part of the work we do (though good food and amazing yarn certainly don’t hurt!), and we’re doing our part to help stop the spread of Covid-19.  But that also means a lot of economic disruption, as festivals and markets that growers and makers alike were counting on for business this winter and spring.

Want to do something about that?  Us too.

So, we’d like to buy you a gift certificate.  Not to support OUR favorite local businesses (we’re already doing that), but to support YOUR favorite local business.

Starting this week (3/23) and continuing through the end of May, we’re going to buy a gift certificate or make a $25 donation each week to one local business or organization you’d like us to support.

Here’s how it’s going to work:

1) Follow us on Instagram or Facebook

2) Like the #25aweek post.   Facebook. (Instagram’s is below)

3) In the comments of that post, tag a local business that you’d like to support.  Don’t forget to tell them why they’re so awesome.

4) New subscribers to our email list also get an entry!  Just enter the name of you favorite local business on the ‘success’ screen when you confirm your signup.

At the end of each week, we’ll draw a winning entry from all the comments and either send you a gift certificate to your chosen local business or make a donation in your name.

And remember rule #1 of our knitalongs:  Be excellent to each other – and yourselves.

Hey everybody, Erin here. People (ok, and the yarn too) have always been the best part of working at Morehouse. We’re glad to do our part to help stop the spread of Covid-19, but know how much the cancellation of festivals is hurting the indie maker community… not just crafts, food too. But who is better equipped than this brilliant creative community to rise to the challenges ahead? Especially if we all work together. So, we’d like to buy you a gift certificate. Not to support OUR favorite businesses (we’re already doing that), but to support YOUR favorite businesses. Starting this week, and until the end of May, we’re going to buy you a $25 gift certificate or make a $25 donation to one local business or organization you’d like us to support, each week. Here’s how it’s going to work: 1) Follow us 2) LIKE this post (and we’d be thrilled if you re-post it) 3) TAG a local business that you’d like to support, and maybe every day something nice about them, eh? At the end of each week, we’ll draw a winning entry and either send you a gift certificate to your chosen local business or make a donation in your name. Into it? Visit our web site for more ways to enter. And remember rule #1 of our knitalongs: Be excellent to each other – and yourselves. #25aweek #localbusiness #locallygrown #makersgonnamake #yarnaddict #knittersofinstagram #onlyinnewyork #knitlocal #indiedyers #knitknitknit
