We all know that there’s no substitute for being able to TOUCH the yarn and know how many of you enjoyed the shop at the fork in the road back in the day.
Right now, our small team on our small farm is rebuilding. We’re working hard to take good care of our flock of Merinos and bring you the yarn you love. That means our days are overfull, and we love every minute, but it doesn’t leave time for tours right now. (We’ve also got some close new neighbors whose privacy we need to respect, so we can’t accommodate order pick-ups at this time.)
So what’s a knitter to do?
We’re very pleased to offer you these opportunities to shop in person in 2020!
Class are back at Lost Acres Vineyard in North Granby, CT! The’ve been postponed until after it’s safe for us to congregate again, so make sure you’re on our email list to get the new dates. Choose from 4 different projects or come by for drop-in knitting.
Morehouse Open Farm DayS!
June 6, 2020*, 9 am to 3 pm and
October 16, 2020, 10 am to 4 pm
*We sure hope This Crazy Time will be over by June!
Whenever it’s over, we’ll have our special day at Morehouse Farm.
We’re planning for June 6, and hope you can join us for these special events:
- We’re challenging the world record for the Most Knitters Knitting in the Company of Sheep at 10:30 AM
- Anne Frost of the “I Thought I Knew How” podcast will be joining for Knitting Trivia, a fun fundraiser to benefit the Shetland MRI Scanner Appeal. For a $5 donation, you’ll receive your answer card and have a blast testing your knowledge against that of your fellow attendees!
For one special day in June (or whenever we can safely gather!) and one in October, we’ll open the farm to knitters who want to meet the sheep and shop in our studio. We’ll have all the patterns and all the colorways so you can build your own kits, as well as the Morehouse Handpaints yarn and our popular FREE SPIRIT skeins (you know, the oddballs and broken skeins) plus the Morehouse Library has knitting and even some crochet, felting, and weaving books for just $5 each. It’s small, it’s cozy, but it’s magical.
New York Sheep and Wool Festival – October 17 and 18
Also known as “Rhinebeck,” we remember how this event as the NY Bred Ewe Sale, when it was a sheep show with a few vendor booths. Today, it’s the largest sheep and wool festival in the US! Be prepared for lots and LOTS of enthusiastic knitters. If you prefer a slower pace, plan to come on Sunday. Both days, you’ll find us in the lower level (booth 14D for downstairs) of the horticultural building (22D for DOWNSTAIRS). Ask anyone – it’s THE place to be when we have real October weather!
Looking ahead to 2021:
Vogue Knitting Live NYC, at the NY Marriott Marquis in Times Square, January 29-31, 2021
We’ll plan on the same booth on the 5th floor, come into the ballroom and turn left! Booth 102.
